WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in God, His Son Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit.
We believe He loves every human being — despite our failures.
He wrote us a love letter (the Bible) and prepared a salvation plan for all who put their faith in Him.
Here is what we believe, and how you can join us on this journey of faith.
1. Why did God create the world and humanity?
In the beginning, God created something perfect.
A world where people, animals and nature lived in harmony — and above all, where humans lived in direct relationship with God. No fear, no shame, no death. Just a full, free and beautiful life. (Genesis 1-2)
God walked with them. (Genesis 3:8) He had given them everything. And He hadn't created robots — He had created beings in His own image (Genesis 1:27), capable of loving, creating, choosing. Children, not servants.
That world was the original plan. And it was magnificent.
2. Why is there so much evil in the world?
Because true love cannot be forced.
God had set one single limit — one forbidden tree — not to control, but to allow a real choice. (Genesis 2:16-17) And that day, humanity chose its own way over God's.
That choice changed everything. Something broke — within us, between us, and in the world around us. The pain, the injustice, the death, that feeling of emptiness so many people carry : this is not what God wanted. It is the result of a world cut off from its source of life.
God's heart? Broken. But not resigned.
This choice — to live with God or without Him — He gives it to every human being. He gives it to you too, today. And that choice has real consequences, now and for eternity.
3. What is God's plan to save us?
The story of the Bible is the story of a God who never gives up.
He tried to start over with Noah, a righteous man, after human violence had taken over everything. (Genesis 6-9) But human nature hadn't changed. People kept wanting to live without God, their own way.
He gave laws, guides, prophets. He also established a system of animal sacrifices, because justice requires that wrongdoing be covered, repaired. (Leviticus 17:11) But those sacrifices repeated endlessly, because none of them could fix the problem at its root.
So God made a radical decision: "Only I can cover all of this. I'll go myself."
This wasn't a last-minute decision. Hundreds of years before it happened, prophets had announced it: a saviour would come, born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), he would carry the suffering of others (Isaiah 53), and through him, everything could be restored.
And then Jesus came.
God himself, made human. He lived our life, felt our struggles, and He never gave in. Then He carried the weight of all our failures on the cross. Not because He had to. Out of love. (John 3:16) To repair what we had broken.
His resurrection three days later was the victory: death defeated, and the door reopened between God and humanity. The perfect sacrifice, once and for all. (Hebrews 10:10)
The choice is simple to put into words, even if it can take time to make: do you want to accept what Jesus did for you, and live in relationship with God — or keep going your own way?
He doesn't force anything. He waits.
And He has a plan for what comes next.
4. What comes next? The Kingdom of God
God hasn't given up on His original plan. That perfect world He created in the beginning, that harmony between people, nature, and Him. He intends to restore it. No one is forced, but it is possible for everyone who wants it. (Revelation 21:1-5)
This is not a metaphor. It is a concrete promise: one day, everything that is broken will be repaired. Everything that is unjust will be set right. And those who chose God will live with Him in that new reality, forever.
5. In the meantime, how do we live in this imperfect world?
We are not yet in that Kingdom. But we can already experience something of it today.
Let's be honest: becoming a Christian doesn't mean your life will suddenly become easy. You won't be spared from difficulties, grief, doubt, or injustice.
This world is broken - and you will still feel it.
But here is what truly changes: you no longer face any of it alone.
God doesn't wait for you to be perfect. He doesn't ask you to transform yourself through your own strength. He just asks for the willingness to move forward, and He provides everything else.
He gives us three concrete anchors:
-
The Holy Spirit : His presence within us, guiding us, sustaining us, and transforming us from the inside, where our own efforts fall short.
-
The Bible : His Word, a living and practical guide for navigating life with clarity and hope.
-
The Church : not a building, not an institution. A community of imperfect people doing their best, together. Encouraging each other, picking each other up, and trying every day to live a little of what God has planned for eternity: love, peace, joy, forgiveness, care for creation.
This is what it means to be a Christian: not to be spared from the world's brokenness, but to contribute to making things better around you, at your own scale. To live in harmony with God, with others, with nature. To face the storms with something solid inside — and solid people beside you.
And that is worth it.
The same choice He gave to Adam and Eve, He gives to you today. No pressure, no guilt — freely. What is your choice?
6. Why a Surf Church?
We live by the ocean. Some of us surf. And we find that the sea has this particular way of putting things in perspective, it reminds us how small we are, and how great God is.
But we don't worship the waves. We worship the One who created them.
Our surf culture is simply the context in which we do life together. Whether you surf or not, you are welcome here. This is a place for the curious, the skeptical, the beginners and the believers.
Curious? Skeptical? Asking the big questions for the first time? So were we. Come as you are. We would love to explore all of this with you.
